Ascent of Mercer County High Point on 2010-10-30Date: | Saturday, October 30, 2010 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mercer County High Point | Location: | USA-Pennsylvania | Elevation: | 1621 ft / 494 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThe County High Pointers list four spots for Mercer County but all are in two contour areas off of Hendersonville Rd. between Sandy Lake and Henderson, one area east of the road with several small knobs all about the same height within the general area and one west of the road. Start from the high point on the road for the east side and follow old logging roads. A GPS helps. For the west side, head through a break in the fence (not posted) south of a house numbered 885. Head towards a red barn (and away from the house that features a bevy of angry barking dogs) and then around the perimeter of the field behind the house. My highest GPS altimeter reading was 7 feet higher on the west side of the road, so maybe that's the true high point. |
