Ascent Trip Report

I'd scouted this route back when I did Corporation back in '18. I began at an old logging road (marked by a no camping sign) just shy of 5 miles up Bingo Rd from Rt. 73. This road shows climbing to Monastery Gap so my plan was to follow it there and approach the peak from the west. On the ground I followed a good road a little less than half a mile when I realized I was too low to be on the road I'd seen on the map. Knowing I'd need to tackle the steep western slope no matter which way I went, I decided to do it now and turned east up another less defined road. This eventually crossed the road I'd originally been looking for but I decided to keep to the my easterly track, eventually turning north around 2400'. The woods were a combination of open transitional beech/birch to about 2700' where pines starting creeping in but never anything thick. I picked up a faint herd path for the last quarter mile. Overall a good route, though definitely steep in a couple of sections.
