Ascent Trip Report

Stopped at the next shelter at 8am on the side of a mountain that had been once used for farming and was just one big field. At that shelter, we met 20 people and also got a free full can of Chunky soup taht someone had decided not to carry anymore. Also hooked up with my German friend, the Viking, and was able to get his picture. The next day was quite crazy. After the shelter at the barn, Soren and I hiked 15 miles, went to Jones falls (where I took a shower in a waterfall), ate our Chunky soup, and had an hour break. Three miles later, at the 20 mile mark, he decided to call it quits and tent for the night. It was about 5pm. However, since I wanted to get to the shelter before the hostel, which I thought was 6 miles away, I pressed on. Because of the brand new trail relocation that 6 miles ended up being 12! So I hiked until midnight that night, making my total mileage for that day 29.1! I was pretty exhausted that day, so I just made the six miles into the hostel and took a half day off!
