Ascent of McClellan Peak on 2020-09-21
|Date:||Monday, September 21, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8364 ft / 2549 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis was the 6th peak of the trip and a very enjoyable one. There is no well established route and following GPS tracks is key.
We went up a relatively direct route but came down the ridge to the North west. I would recomend the ridge to the North west as per GPS track I uploaded, it was much simpler and you do not lose a bunch of elevation either, there are also less scrambles and overall better terrain.
The summit block is also a bit tricky there are about 2 routes on the North side which are one move Class 3/4 perhaps which is relatively straight forward. But there is also an even easier route to the South likely Class 2, it takes a little longer as you need to go around the summit from the North.
