Ascent Trip Report

Last peak of the Southern Presies that we were doing on this ttwo day overnight Lakes of the Clouds hut stay. Dad, Sue Ann, and now Shawna and another friend from her group, headed over to Pierce, and that's when we noticed the big black ominous cloud beyond.
We started moving faster towards Pierce, hoping not to get caught in rain, much less a Thunder Storm. Well, we had no chance with the fast moving cloud, and just as we managed to tag the summit of Pierce, the skies opened up with a fierce Thunder Storm. It scared us, and we thorugh our rain jackets on, and tried to get under the cover of the trees as quickly as possible, but we found ourselves in the thick of it! It was wild and so loud, you could not hear one another! We moved fast down the trail and eventually separated from Shawna and her friend, but agreed to 'meet on the bottom' as they were to give us a ride to our car up at Amonoosuc.
O No problem right? Well, when you have T-showers, and don't know the exact questions to ask about the finish, we missed a small detail that their is a side parking lot for Crawford, off the trail, or you could park near the train depot which is where We went. We waited under cover of the depot for about an hour or so, wondering what happened to the, and they didn't see us where they had parked, and thought we had gotten another ride to our car. No cells phones then. So dad ended up hitch hiking or something to the car, and came back to get us. Not the way we wanted to finish a fabulous two day hike, but in the end, all was well! We made it down safely!
