Ascent Trip Report**The whole ridge is state land. No worries about private logging access.**
See GPX. Alternate West approach directions detailed in SummitPost.
I suggest you combine this peak with Goat Mt. and Lakeview Pk. for a day of CoHPs and CoPPs!
Very good bikeable logging road. Ups and downs along the route but all gentle. Go right at junction immediately after starting on road, and then left at T junction at the ridge. Excellent views from the bluff just a dozen yards from the road. Would be a great place to camp overnight!
Clearcut on summit bump is now very overgrown and thrashy, but very short. I met prolific peakbagger Andy Boos on the "summit" just as I summitted! He came from the West so we chatted for a bit while schwacking back to the road before going opposite ways.
1/1 ACCESS (roads, restrictions) - passenger car
1/1 REMOTENESS (popularity, sight/Sound) - feels remote despite being in a heavily populated area
1/1 CONDITION (trail/route) - logging road
0/2 VARIETY (flora/fauna, geology, terrain) - logging road
1/2 VIEWS (frequency, quality) - quite nice view over the lake. MSH would be great on a clear day.
0/1 AWE (does it inspire) - logging bump
1/2 DANIEL FACTOR (would I enjoy climbing this again: 0=No, 1=Meh, 2=Yes) - would make for a great year-round hike
(does not include difficulty since hikers may prefer opposite extremes)
