Ascent of Mount Davis on 2020-09-11Date: | Friday, September 11, 2020 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mount Davis | Location: | USA-North Carolina/Tennessee | Elevation: | 5040 ft / 1536 m |
Ascent Trip ReportBagged while en route to the Derrick Knob Shelter from Clingman's Dome. On the AT, I headed up in a NE direction from where the peak's SW ridge meets the AT. The bushwhack is easy at first, but devolves into a semi-crawl through low growing bushes. Summit point is obvious, but no markers on top. Headed down via a heard path. Found significant evidence of something digging around all over the place...I guess bears or boars. Found some kind of den too....safe to say I didn't hang around too long. |
