Ascent Trip ReportFollowing the ascent of Tuolumne Peak, we moved camp a few miles up trail to May Lake. Set everything up, and after a quick break for food, I headed up toward the ridgeline. The smoke had moved in as the afternoon winds shifted, so the mask was on for most of the route. Trail was well-worn up to the timberline, and I was able to follow footsteps until the flat section below the summit block where the true trail resumed. Took the direct scramble up the final portion, and was greeted with the best views of the trip. Most of the surrounding ranges were in view, but the most striking part was the number of active fires that could be seen. Smoke obscured some of the park to the south, including Half Dome and most of LYV. Great quick summit from the lakeside campsite. Put a perfect finish on a great 4+ day trip to Yosemite.
