Ascent of Pinnacle Peak on 2020-08-29
|Date:||Saturday, August 29, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||6562 ft / 2000 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWe attempted this after finishing up the Castle. Went up the usual south route. Lower down there is an faint trail but soon you will be confronted with ledges filled with loose rock. We stayed close to the ridge/climbers left where possible. The crux is around 80ft of class 3-4ish climbing till you reach the obvious notch on the summit ridge. From there on its a short walk up to the actual summit.
The descent will require down climbing the ledges but the key is to take it slow and in stages. Its not as hard as it looks and crux is the first 50 ft after which it gets easier. Note that there are no cairns to guide you on the upper mountain so be careful not to stray too far right where the climbing can get into lower 5th.
