Ascent Trip Report

Third trip up Buck. From Pilot's Knob. Not busy at 7:30 am, a complete "highway" to follow. Minimal mud. Nicely maintained trail, meaning the signs, trail register, available porta potty (but not emptied). Beautiful views. A plane went by and some young lads snickered as the 3 of us pulled out our cameras. A lot of trash (doggie doo bags, clothes, flip flops, bottles). Picked up two bags full. A VERY rude woman near the trailhead asked how much further to the 3 mile point. Answered her politely. She turned around, commented as we picked up more trash at trailhead, "You are doing so much for the community." She picked up her coffee cup obviously left at the trailhead, poured out the remaining coffee, looked at our full trash bag and said, "Oh, I guess you don't have room for it" and placed that cup on the ground near the "carry in, carry out" sign next to the porta-potty. Hike mate took that cup to her shiny Mustang convertible and handed it to her as she primped in the back seat and the young lad in the from posed for selfies. Hike mate told her, "Carry in, carry out." Got her license plate number in case she threw it out the open convertible. The audacity. Rant over.
