Ascent Trip Report

After the previous afternoon's Monte Pania Della Croce ascent.

From SSE, Passo Tomarlo, limited parking, larger area a short walk to SE, where I started: this involves a short road walk, which might be avoided by a short and hopefully easy beechwood bushwhack. Good marked trail all the way, I make short detour to Monte Croce Martincano (1723m P48 on IGM map), nice rocky summit with fine view and rough wooden cross, outcrop to N appears to be just higher. Mapped descent N on OpenStreetMap barely exists on the ground but easy open beechwood, then R across meadow to rejoin main path to summit.

Maggiorasca is open grassland and has two summits: the northern one just N of comms installation appears just higher. There's a remarkably good paved path N to Monte Bue, which I didn't visit. Small detour to visit the local Madonna in a fine situation on a tall column.

Up in a leisurely 1h05, about 15mins around the two summits, 35mins down. Nice easy start to the day, late start after a small-hours arrival this morning.

The second peak of the day is Monte Lèsima.
