Ascent Trip Report

3rd in a series of peaks in an climb to County Corner Point. I declined the short walk to Potrock due due to the time of day and my long trip back to Huntersville. perhaps another time in the future!

From the lofty Tusquitee Bald, Signal Bald is close but deceivingly hard to find among more deadfall and thick brush. I had researched from other reports the tough trudge to the Signal Bald summit depending on where you approach it. It was hard and in August, every plant was growing and blooming.

Like Randy and Tom, I found the manway that led (although somewhat rahshly) to a summit very near Tusquitee Bald with some views obscured by the summer foliage. Did not find the stone and BM (5246 feet) despite multiple walks around the "summit". I am sure it is there, but with all plants and grasses at high length, I can understand why I could not locate it. I call it a tigh on the elevation of Tusquitee and Signal :). I clawed my way back to the main trail for the final ascent to Peak 5149 and County Corner Point.
