Ascent Trip ReportA quick hike from the High Prairie TH for a fantastic sunset! The portion of the loop (right fork heading out from the TH) that isn't the old lookout access road is definitely the more scenic, showcasing some cool rocks and a better view of Mt. Hood on the way up.
Lookout Mtn. is basically the highest peak (excluding Hood) between Adams and Jefferson, so the view from the summit is a full 360 degrees for 50+ miles. The sky was mostly clear, and we could see from Rainier to the Sisters. I may have spotted Paulina even further south, but I'll need to verify that on a map.
Note: we took Hwy 35 to NFS Rd 44, then turned onto the gravel (unmarked) NFS Rd 4410. and followed that up to the TH.
