Ascent Trip Report

Approach drive from the south via the Chetco River (North Bank road). Great camping along the river. I recommend Nook Bar. I have camped at many locations including Miller Bar and Loeb Park and like Nook the best. For an early start it is possible to camp near the trailhead. A decent spot next to a small pond can be found just north of Mineral Hill or you can just camp at the trailhead itself if the gate at Snowcamp Mountain TH is open. Some interesting and unique flora in the area due in part to the serpentine group minerals in the rock.

Daniel Mick description is good. I agree that this route is starting to get more difficult due to returning brush. If you are interested in this summit, the sooner you get after it- the better. In a few years it will begin to get a lot harder and it is already a fairly strenuous hike with no water along the route as it is.
