Ascent Trip ReportAfter this morning's Stol ascent.
Easy hike to an isolated summit in a large forested area.
From SW, parking at barrier at 1440m, 1.5km from summit, walked road to its end (3 vehicles parked, possibly belonged to hut workmen) then good trail to mountain hut directly below summit which is easily reached, tall trig pillar at highpoint, viewfinder (in haze I couldn't see Triglav, never mind Marmolada! 1h10 up, 10mins on summit, 1h05 down, a few other hikers.
Note: Google Maps has a slightly lower parking area, which is useful for navigation, but ensure you go via Ilirska Bistrica, as GM tried to take me another way via roads I wasn't allowed to drive. GPS track ends at Sviscaki, 3.3km from where I parked.
Having completed the Slovenian P1000m summits, and all P1000s reasonably feasible in Northern Italy, with Austria out of bounds due to Covid, I headed back to Central Italy, picking up where I'd left off 12 days earlier. Next morning I climbed Monte Catria.
