Ascent Trip ReportMy first time up to Whitney, my second 14er. Hiked via Whitney Trail. On the return I bagged Keeler Needle, Third Needle, and Aquille Extra. What a beautiful area. Took my time on the hike to really enjoy the Whitney Zone. I can not believe it took me this long to actually do Whitney. I need to get out more to the Sierras. Took me about 13 hours total (including breaks), but 11 hours of moving time. I felt like I really took my time with this hike, especially past 13000 ft. Experienced some headache on the way down, but I think it's because I was going up and down the needles. On the ascent, I took a long rest break at Trail Camp Pond and watched the sunrise. On the descent, took a break at Outpost Camp next to the clear water. Didn't need to filter any of the water I drank. |
