Ascent Trip Report

We backpacked to the Lake on Wednesday and climbed on Thursday. We ascended the east track then traversed on the south face of the ridge and ascended up back to the ridge once we were past the cliffs. Probably would have been easier to have traversed on the 8200' contour rather than trying to go higher then having to descend to get around the cliff face. Once on the saddle between the Butte and peak 8648' it's an easy stroll to the summit. We descended directly down the ridge to the east then mostly followed the drainage back to the Lake and camp. The majority of the climb, other than the summit approach is steep and thick brush and/or loose rock.
It is hard to see your route once you are in the trees and there is not a clear path up to the ridge saddles.
