Ascent Trip Report

The plan had been to do a 3-5 mile round trip with my son on 2Aug20 as part of our weekend in the Poconos. When it rained all night on 1Aug20, I had initially scrapped the idea of this hike in my mind, but when the clouds began to burn off in the early morning, I convinced myself and son to go. We drove about half an hour from my in-laws' Poconos house to Big Boulder Ski Resort, but turned around at the parking lot which was barricaded off and posted with beware of rattlesnakes (?!) signs.

Instead, looking at the map, I decided we could just hoof it up the access road from the pullout on PA-903. Once at the last of the radio towers at the end of the road, looked for the high point and the rickety metal stairs and bridge from previous trip reports. Both are in complete disrepair with all of the slats. While we avoided the stairs and scrambled up the first boulder stack, we decided to carefully cross the bridge using the still intact spanning beams across the chasm between the two stacks. We found the

It was slightly more disregard for private property than I would have normally encouraged for my son, and I would likely not attempt crossing that bridge any more than necessary, but overall it was a good little hike to cap off a good weekend in the Poconos.
