Ascent Trip ReportFrom the summit of Banshee we dropped into the basin below the peak (6700') and traversed below the "solitary tree". While in the basin fog rolled in and obscured our route. Fortunately it cleared as we completed the traverse under the tree.
We pitched out the 30' traverse and 15' slot, placing 3 pieces (2 small X4s and a 0.5 C4). The scrambling was loose but fun to the summit. We picked a class 3+ gully with a couple exposed spots.
Time to summit from Banshee: 3:15. We rappeled the slot and skipped the traverse using a 60m rope which was just long enough. We took 6:15 from summit to cars with a couple breaks. On the return we skipped Banshee Peak and traversed around 7000' until able to get back on the open meadows again and head back towards Panhandle Gap.
