Ascent Trip Report

We followed in the footsteps of Bob McLaughlin, following the French Creek route. Having the track was especially helpful on the potentially confusing ridge run across and around massive rock obstacles surrounded by mantled scree. This hike has generous rock-hopping thus taking longer compared to other peaks with elevation, mileage and vertical distance. For us, it took about 7 hours with generous breaks, so we were glad we had brought extra food and water. Fantastic panoramic views of surrounding peaks, with slight haze from far off wildfires. Seeing the "'old friends' brought back fond memories of sitting on their summits looking at English Mountain knowing that some day we would be there, too.

Vehicle access note: the giant mud hole along Meadow Lake Road near Catfish Lake, mentioned by others, has been repaired and covered with gravel. So, not an issue. Driving Meadow Lake road with a high-clearance 4x4 and is a definite anxiety reducer.
