Ascent Trip Report

Easy undulating grade on well-worn trail for first 1.75 miles then jumps to a vert climb up rocky stairs to the summit. The rocky climb has a raptor nesting area to the right on your ascension, but is closed until August 1 and features some good rocky outcrops. The summit was crowded, and the summit rock took turns going up/down. Few ppl wearing masks (about 25% of <30y/o); some dogs off leash, so a bit of a free-for-all to maneuver around to get views of the divide and Boulder valley.

Easy access from the trail to hit up Bear Peak and South Boulder Peak, as well as the sacred cliffs (closed; raptors), but we clocked a total of 4.25 miles with some time/distance spent exploring/rock climbing, for 3 hours total (2 up; 1 down) but move time was ~2:10 with two kids (10; 7).

Great views so totally worthwhile to do it again - maybe when less crowded, but that’s what I get for starting at the TH at 9:30a on Saturday...
