Ascent of Flagstaff Mountain on 2020-07-19
|Date:||Sunday, July 19, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||6960 ft / 2121 m|
Ascent Trip ReportStarted just before 10a Sunday; got one of the last pkg spaces available. Mostly sunny day but trail was very well shaded throughout the hike. Fairly active at the TH, but few crossings with folks while on the trails - just a few without masks. About 10-15 mins in, the 10 y/o decided to scramble up the rocky hillside to the panorama point just below the summit. Easy enough to traverse for her and my 7 y/o, I made it up with the puppers without issue but requiring picking your lines before proceeding. Good class 2 scramble.
The panorama point below the summit is a good overlook and has a flat spot for some R&R. The summit is a short jaunt up the Ute Trail but is largely a flat meadow with a few “summits”, so we wandered about between them and the trail around the peak.
Take some time along the Ute Trail back to the parking area to go off the main trail to check out some rocky outcrops which provide time for kiddo exploration and great views of Boulder and Gregory/Long Canyons.
