Ascent Trip ReportTook Orebed Trail from Garden Parking. Easy to follow Trail. Orebed turned into Range Trail just past Johns Brook Lodge and the suspension bridge for a short jaunt. Lots of water sources, camping spots and a couple lean tos. Easy going most flat hiking for a couple miles, then some gentle elevation. Hit a "slide" type area. Looked around for the stairs. Found a little sections off to the left where the yellow blazes are and found them. May have lost the true Orebed trail for a bit as I found a small section of broken stairs covered with blowdown. Climbed the stairs, then back on the regular trail. Some easily negotiable small scrambles. Up to the summit; a small look out to the left just before summit. Heavy fog there and at the very windy summit. Headed back, some good views upon descent. Muddy, wet from the water coming off various sections. Terrific route if you want to avoid Saddleback's cliffs, which I did.
Others on the trail to Gothics, so I'm calling this only party on the mountain, as I was the only one on Saddleback.
