Ascent of Robinson Mountain on 2020-07-10Date: | Friday, July 10, 2020 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Robinson Mountain | Location: | USA-Washington | Elevation: | 8726 ft / 2659 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThis was plan B for a canceled Rainier climb. Beautiful, sunny, warm weather, and incredibly there were almost no mosquitoes. Route is completely snow free. 13 hours C2C with 1 hour break at summit, 1.5 hour break at tarn, plus a few much shorter breaks. Scramble up false summit looked worse than it was. There are lots of hand/foot holds, which is good because some of the smaller ones are loose. Exposure isn't too bad. It took longer to run the ridge from false to true summit than expected because the little "towers" of rock had to be climbed carefully. I used an ice axe for balance coming down the 800 ft of scree to the tarn. |
