Ascent Trip Report

Three solo hikers were on the summit together. We had fierce westerly winds on the summit so that we all felt threatened about staying on our feet. When I started up my inReach device to post my summit message, I got the "message received" notification, so looked at it. It was my wife's friend saying that Rhonda had gone to the emergency room feeling "weird" and that I needed to get home ASAP. I had planned to hike next-door neighbor Black Crater in the morning, but that plan went out the window and I headed for home. Kind of a weird outing to say the least. But the good part is that all her tests proved negative and she came home soon after I started driving. What a huge relief!!
