Ascent Trip Report

Having started running more seriously a couple months ago during the pandemic isolation, I decided to test my fitness on a trail I had done in the past. Mont Orford being in my backyard, I went for the same loop I had run with an extended family member 3 years prior.

I left home around 08:00 and drove the short distance north to the lac Stukely campground gate. I was the only car present so I chose the best spot on the shoulder. Having bought my yearly Sépaq pass, I started running straight off at a gentle pace. Even if it was still early in the morning, temperature was already warm. I passed a couple on their way to the hiking trail and soon reached the junction where I started uphill. The humidity and general heat made the effort a bit hard and I had to slow down to a powerhike.

It's steep and I was already spiking close to Z4 effort. The climb wasn't particularly spectacular but I eventually reached the bare rocks near the summit where another runner crossed my path, going downhill. A few meters later I found myself on the little rocky bump, making my way down towards the next summit on the ridge.
