Ascent Trip ReportAfter getting caught in a downpour near Cheaha's summit, I drove over to the Bald Rock trailhead. This is a nicely constructed boardwalk with area geography and forest information stops along the way to the viewpoint. Although there was nothing to see due to the clouds. Right under the observation deck is the actual rock formation with "Bald Rock" etched and painted into its side, for photography purposes no doubt! For a different scene I returned along the trail that parallels the boardwalk, which was quite nice. Fortunately, there was a bathroom at the pkg. area so I could change out of my still soaking wet clothes! |
