Ascent Trip Report

If you hit anything harder than easy class 3 then you are taking a harder line than needed. On my way up I decided to try the 1/2 chute as it looked easier than the 2/3 chute. The 2/3 chute is also called the U Notch, though to me it looks like a U on the South side while a V on the North side. This was a mistake as I ended up having to turn around when I got to where climbing was going to be harder than I was comfortable with. Next I decided to give the 2/3 chute a better look and I ended up accidentally passing it heading south. When I realized this, I changed course and ended up finding an easier way into it by bypassing harder sections below me. First I dropped off my heavy training weight pack and made it to the top of the chute. Next I realized that I had to go back down the way I had come a few feet for the best angle to the peak, where I dropped off my hiking poles and scrambled up to the top. Sorry I don't have a GPS track to offer, but I hope my description helps those that have been scared off due to others harder sounding reports.
