Ascent Trip ReportPark at the far (north) end of the large lot just north of the High Point monument. Two trails enter the woods, but you want the one to the left that is marked with more than one blaze that initially is not atop the ridge. Follow the trail generally downhill about one mile to a four-way trail junction. Take the path to the right and watch the GPS reach its closest distance to the boundary highpoint, which will happen quickly and should be between 400 and 450 feet. Then bushwhack back to the ridgeline and follow it until a small cairn is found on a large flat boulder. One two visits, GPS has placed this boulder within 35 feet of the liner highpoint.
Note: Entry to HIgh Point State Park is free from Labor Day to Memorial Day. Last time I was there, the entry fee during peak sseaon was $10 for NJ residents and $20 for out-of-staters. If one parks for free outside the state park, that adds about 1.5 miles of road walking each way.r
