Ascent Trip ReportThe final stop of our trip to Blue Mounds! With the sun beginning to set to our right as we drove south from Pipestone, all of us were eager to get the campsite set up and get a fire going for some dinner. We parked on Highway 73 just north of the HP and walked up to a gate. Hannah goes "where's the high point?" and I point due south and say "I think that pile of rocks." Dad, randomly goes, "Pile of rocks?!?! I love a pile of rocks!" and proceeds to hop up onto the gate. This remained a quote throughout the weekend. There is a white reflective post that indicated the benchmark once you reach it. I would have taken a picture but as a peered at it and reached into my pocket to grab my phone, I heard a couple of loud barks to the south. Dad and I both stood straight up and said simply "Dog" and began running back to the car. Hannah was a little slower on the draw but after a few seconds she followed us. No dog came running over the hill but we nonetheless got out of there quick.
