Ascent Trip ReportCamped about 2 miles north of Indian Creek Pass (endless places to camp, mosquitoes were an issue though), very fun and easy summit from there. "Cruxes" are: some minor bushwhacking to get through some sporadic spruce forests, and a stream crossing that's difficult to do if you want to keep your fee dry. Route to the summit of the Shaman Dome still had some snow patches, but we didn't need to use our crampons. If there's a summit register, we couldn't find it.
We continued on to The Wing. The crux of this came from downclimbing the Dome to access the ridge. This is very steep and has some 5th class sections with very bad rock. As we started hiking up the ridge towards The Wing, it got exponentially easier. Looking back at the now-phallic Dome we had two thoughts 1) Is this mountain's name a penis joke? and 2) Dang, if we would've downclimbed the we came up to the summit and traversed around (south), it would be a gentle hike with no 5th class terrain. That's the better line.
The ridge to the Wing took us about 2 hours, but felt like it went by quickly. It wasn't anywhere near as scary as it looks from Shaman. There was the most homebrew summit register I've seen in the Chugach, a peanut butter jar? Beggars can't be choosers, Abbey signed us in so we'd have proof if Peakbagger's servers ever go down!
