Ascent of Bootjack Mountain on 2020-06-06
|Date:||Saturday, June 6, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||6789 ft / 2069 m|
Ascent Trip ReportAscended via Blackpine trail which was mostly blowdown free and easy to follow. Took snow and rock to the tops of Bootjack (no register) and Blackjack. Opted to use the snowy east face to ascend Highchair till cornices forced me to the ridge. Descended to the saddle between Highchair and Pt. 6908 and then dropped down the Pablo Creek basin towards the Snowall Cradle Lake trail. This trail was easy to follow but is inaccurate on all maps, it does not do short switchbacks but instead goes much further west than expected. Meadow Creek trail was basically a fast flowing creek with a spicy crossing whereas Jack Creek crossing was thigh deep but not too strong. Jack Creek Trail travels through a beautiful forest and was recently maintained. An non-mapped trail called Jackpine Trail parallels Icicle Creek road and connects the Jack Creek trailhead to the Blackpine trailhead. Doing the loop added on 6 extra miles versus an out and back.
