Ascent Trip ReportI only took 2 quarts of water and was planning on getting more on the Devils Slide Trail. I was thinking there was a flow that crossed the trail near the top so didn't stop earlier but was mistaken. I stopped for lunch at Saddle Junction and checking my PCT app saw that Strawberry Cieniga was only a few miles farther so planned on getting water there, no problem. I'm sure I got water there on my PCT thru hike 14 years ago. However I didn't realize that the trail I was following on AllTrails didn't follow the PCT the whole way and missed the turnoff to when it went left towards Strawberry Cieniga. I continued straight on the Wellman Divide Trail.
By the time I realized my mistake I didn't want to turn around and go back so continued on hoping for on trail water soon. Thankfully I soon reached two small streams on the trail, probably Wellman Cieniga, and got good water there, both going up and coming down.
After summiting I planned on going down the way I had planned on going up but realized that was a few miles longer so went down the same way. I didn't reach my camper until 8:14 so was glad I didn't take the longer route.
It was a beautiful day, nice and sunny and warm on top, felt good to be there again after 18 1/2 years.
