Ascent Trip ReportA fun hike in the rain from the Wolf Laurel Trailhead
Driving: You will need a vehicle with decent clearance to make it to the trailhead. FR 81 is well groomed but has some large ruts and small rock shelves. Turn onto 81 and take the second left, following the signs to the Wolf Laurel Trailhead. There is space for several cars at the end of the road.
Hiking: The Wolf Laurel trail is unmarked at the start but is fairly obvious. I took the Wolf Laurel trail up to the Benton McKaye and made a left to get to the summit. The hike is uphill but easy and on decent singletrack. Rain prevented me from having any views. I then carried on to Saddle Tree Gap Peak. The trail intersections are well marked. |
