Ascent Trip ReportStarted at Bucklin Trail lot. Flat with some very muddy spots for the first 2.3 two miles or so. Sun beating down, no shade; felt very hot although only up to 70 degrees F in mid morning. Many wildflowers (trout lilies, spring beauties, dwarf gingseng, purple and painted trillium, Dutchman's Breeches). Nice stop at Irene Falls. Then a gentle rise in elevation with icy rail until Cooper Lodge. Used Hillsound trail crampons. After the lodge came .2 mile of the big, rocky scramble. Very icy for most of it, Hillsounds super helpful, many others without them were struggling. No ice near the summit. Bright sunshine. Fire tower standing. Found the station mark (bolt with chiseled triangle) and reference mark (chiseled arrow); unsure if found the other arrow, might be a big eroded.
