Ascent Trip ReportI accessed Tipsoo Peak from Hwy 138 near MP75 where signed FR 4793 heads south. This road is signed for Cinnamon Butte. Continue up the road past the Cinnamon Butte turnoff until you reach the signed Tipsoo Pk Trail. This is a great trail through an old growth forest and most of it is in the Mt Thielsen Wilderness. The trail climbs slowly as it winds up towards the peak and you don't get any views until you are near the summit. When you first see Mt Thielsen, you are close to the top. The trail goes all the way out a rocky ridge to the high point and a spectacular view of Howlock Mtn and Mt Thielsen. Other views to the north include Diamond and the Three Sisters. Beautiful area, great trail, good road. |
