Ascent Trip ReportParked at Tower Rd and took UT Northbound.
Referencing Coby’s GPX track, there was several manways that make their way up to Dark Mountain. You start at the gap below Dark Mountain, about .61mi South from JOR Trailhead. There’s a nice campsite there, just east of the campsite, you’ll see several identifiable paths. I took the most steep and direct route up.
Stood on the large boulders at the top for the HP. That’s when I noticed the old road that makes its way to the summit. I followed the old road, heading north, it was raining today so it was very slippery and covered in blowdowns, but I never lost track of the road. I merged back onto the Old UT and then back down to Flint Hill Rd. Stopped by Jumping Off Rock, pretty cool views of Barnes Creek, especially after all the rain we got! |
