Ascent of Mount Ellinor on 2020-05-15
|Date:||Friday, May 15, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5920 ft / 1804 m|
Ascent Trip ReportParked on the road near Big Creek CG since the road to TH was closed (Covid-19). That increased the distance to 12 miles and elevation gain to 5,200 ft; carried a 42 lb pack for conditioning. Trail snow-free until summer/winter split. Took the winter route which still had enough snow but not for long. There was running water underneath, and several voids/snow bridges. Waited 40 minutes at the summit for whiteout to clear but it didn't. Only part of the route was glissadable because of rotten snow (punched through to mid-thigh once while plunge stepping).
