Ascent Trip Report

Started early again (7am) at the gate leading up to La Cumbre Peak along East Camino Cielo. Followed the paved road to the right. At the picnic bench turned right on the use trail by the fallen log and down to the saddle. Steep in a few places, but plenty of rocks to maneuver around and over. Now ascending to the summit, I hear movement behind me and along comes another hiker. We chat and it turns out to be Robert Luher. We climb together to a scramble just below the summit. Register located. Beautiful view up and down the coast and out to the Channel Islands. Was expecting much more wind, but it was calm. On the descent, Robert continued on as I fell behind and we parted ways. Always nice to meet a fellow Peakbagger. Finally made it back to trailhead and really liked this peak. Note: from the direction I took the trail declines then rises to the summit, so the net gain is negative since the trailhead is higher than the peak. I don't remember ever doing it like that before.
