Ascent Trip Report

Final climb of the day and trip. I was eyeballing this beauty all day. From the public parking this is the high-point of the clear open space park before you get to the bigger back mountains with all the prominence and it is simply a large pinnacle of scrambling rocks with about 200 feet of prominence. From the south and east sides this pile of boulders affords only class 3 through 5 opportunities and many trails up the climbs but on the west side towards the subdivision there are clear use trails - very steep class 2 loose feldspar sand that safely acquire the summit.

Now I know all of this because I climbed it but at the time, I simply followed the road up the water tank and down across the saddle and then looked up at walls of class 5 and predicted where the weakness would be. The line I took from the east was perfect a seam of rock making a narrow gully of class 2+ and 3 and with good route selection I never once exceeded class 3 not even class 3+ despite the steep angle of the wall. At the summit I found the way most come up a clear class 1+ to 2 trail all the way back. Easy

Nice quick climb
