Ascent of Garnet Mountain on 2020-04-05
|Date:||Sunday, April 5, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5680 ft / 1731 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis one started out well enough, but I missed an easy turn off and went about a mile down the PCT before turning around. By the time I got back to the correct turn, the clouds were rolling in and the wind was picking up. It got nasty FAST! the final push to the summit was all bushwhacking through knee-high, waist-high manzanita and sagebrush tough going with the addition of gale-force winds so this was rated as a 9 for the tough effort needed. On a clear day with no weather issues and patience with the last stretch to the summit, this could be an easier route.
