Ascent Trip ReportDrove in from Graham Pass Road. The road is sandy, but well graded until about two miles before the pass. Then it gets a bit rockier and clearance is needed but not 4WD. The spur to Black Butte is not in good shape. Slow and rocky for the first couple miles. Then it drops down into a couple washes where I was glad I had 4WD, but it may not be necessary. I stopped about 1000 feet short of the DPS 4WD spot where the road dropped steeply to cross a final wash. I drove out via Bradshaw Trail, Gas Line Road, and Red Cloud Road. These roads were all in pretty good shape and just a bit of clearance would suffice. However, I needed to engage 4WD at one section on the Bradshaw Trail where water covered the road for about 100 feet. There were also some sandy sections of the Gas Line Road that would probably be fine with 2WD as long as you keep up your momentum.
The hike was pretty unremarkable but there was some fun scrambling in the gully about halfway through. Steep with good views on top.
