Ascent Trip Report

Our group departed from Rangeley in 4 vehicles. We consolidated into 2 cars at a grocery store at the end of the road and headed in. We picked up another guy on the way in. The road was super icy. Then there was about a foot of snow. Our 2 vehicles plowed through it and after some white knuckle driving, reached a groomed snowmobile trail. We reached the road junction right after the 2 bridges. We hiked the 0.5 miles up to the trailhead. We then broke out the trail. The snow was only about ankle high, so we still made decent time to the privy. We then headed up the mountain, which took longer. At the talus field, there were plenty of rocks poking out of the snow. We carefully made our way up and reached the summit. We then came down and had to be careful since a slip here would probably be fatal. Once back in the trees, we made good time coming down the mountain. Then good time reaching the trailhead. We then hopped back in the vehicles and did some white knuckle driving to get out. Molly and I reached our vehicles at the grocery store, and we headed home that day while everyone else headed back to Rangeley.
