Ascent of Vulture Peak on 2020-03-24

|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||3660 ft / 1115 m|
Ascent Trip ReportFollowed the route (2WD trailhead) described in Charles Liu's book: 60 Hikes within 60 Miles PHOENIX. On reaching the high saddle before turning north for the final ascent, you might want to pack your hiking poles or leave them at the saddle, as from this point on, you will need both hands to scramble to the summit!
On reaching the summit area, there are 2 points, NW and SE, that look about the same height, about a hundred feet apart. There are 2 benchmarks placed near the SE summit but my GPS device told me the NW summit was about 10 feet higher, and thus the true summit. There was also a green Ammo Can register located between the 2 summits.
Wildlife observed: 7 Vultures circling overhead (how appropriate), 1 squirrel munching on green leaves about 3 feet away. 0 snakes!
