Ascent Trip ReportAfter doing Mt. Ozbaldy earlier in the day, it was much too early to return home. Parking at Cabin Creek, I just went straight up to the summit. The snow was still pretty rock hard, so I left the snowshoes in the car and just carried an ice axe. There's a little bit of a view in one direction on top. For variety, I slipped and slid down the icy trail back to the parking lot. I was up and down before any skiers arrived for I encountered no one, an advantage to being here early on a weekday. Fortunately, I was back to the car before whoever checks for Sno-Park passes arrived, for I didn't have a pass. I did avoid the main Sno-Park lot, parking on the side of the road, but it could be argued a pass was still required, so I was fortunate in that regard. South Loop Hill would have little appeal without the snow.
158.5 miles round trip for the two summits. Thanks to the corona virus fears, there was little traffic either direction. How nice. |
