Ascent Trip Report

Did Redfield and Cliff from Upperworks on a long in-and-out day hike with Mike S and John S from upperworks. Trail up to cairn was stunning between dam and cairn. On the way up Redfield John bellowed over in pain due to exhaustion from his pillow factory job. Apparently he lifted a case of pillows the day before at the pillow factory and pulled a back muscle. Overcast and downpour the entire trip, was on trail for over 12 hours i believe, most of the time sloshing through a river of water on the trail. Gave up on trying to keep feet dry around dam on the return. Cliff was pretty awesome due to the scrambles. Both routes easy to navigate hard to get lost. Good times, blood pumping, lots of mud. Ill never forget how much i shivered getting into the car it was scary. The heat was full blast the whole trip home and i felt like a geriatic patient getting out of the car in clifton park, was shivering and broken!!!

In retrospect, this was a truly an epic hike, definately pushing all our limits and one of my favorites of all time due to the company, length, and weather, it was just an insane amount of rain and flooding on the trail, even with all our goretex technology, under the canopy of trees and hoods, we were so wet it was ridiculous.
