Ascent Trip ReportAfter leaving Lake of the Clouds Hut on 22nd morning, Sunday, the 5th mountain we peakbagged was Mt Moroe which was only 0.3 miles or so from Hut on our 3 days presi. Traverse hike. On 22nd, it was raining almost all day long. So we started with covered backpack w/ rain jacket. A bit unpleasant hike at the last day of Presi. Traverse, unfortunately. 3 out of 5 hikers in my hiking group only aimed the last day hike to peakbag 4 more mountains (3 listed and 1 un-listed). Since weather wasn't really good, we kept relatively faster pace throughout the day.
We left hut around 8AM and reached to Monroe summit at 8:15AM. When we got to next 1-2 peaks, we were not sure which one was the highest peak of Franklin because of bad weather. But we could identified Mt Eisenhower summit because of its bold summit. We reached there at 9:30AM. After taking 1-2 pics, we immediately left.
The last mountain we needed to peakbag was Mt Pierce and we got there at 10:20AM. After then, we just had to get out from mountain range to escape from rain/wind. We came back to AMC Highland Center at 12:10PM. We were soaked wet. After changing cloths, we had hot soup and bread there. I enjoyed 3 days hike with Fred, Sharon, Will and Rene. |
