Ascent Trip Report

Parked at official spot and walked on road to get to trail head. Took Red trail to White, meandered in and out of MA, found the closed trail on White, looks like it would be a good way to go. Hit highest point in Columbia County (Alander Mountain-Southwest Ridge)...its not marked but I found the NY/MA marker at the peak area and walked around thru the 3 highest points I could find...then I continued on to the main Alander Peak, MA...AWESOME view from the whole area. Found the geodetic and another marker and the old supports for the fire tower. Took some pics, then headed back down White and veered right on Blue back to trailhead. This was a great hike...some beautiful woods, steep climbs, streams, etc. and then the views from the top are great.
