Ascent Trip Report

Starting from Calahan Mtn Rd (see my Calahan Mtn TR), I bushwhacked uphill to soon come across a trail on the camp's property. This trail doesn't really go where you want to go but I did follow it for a bit. There are impassable ledges all along Old Indian's south side but by heading northwest to meet the ridgeline you can avoid the ledges and huge boulders. Once on the ridgeline there's a nice forest road to follow. It will take you pretty close to the summit. Head cross-country when it starts to veer north on the northwest side of the summit. Summit area is mostly open forest with a decent view to the south of the summit. I followed a spur ridge on the way back down to meet up with other trails on the camp property. I headed too far to my right (west) and missed the trail so I had to backtrack a bit east and go down and back up a steep drainage.
