Ascent Trip ReportThis one is fairly easy. Just park at the Poinset Bridge parking area and start heading uphill. There's a decent amount of rhodo to contend with right at the start but it's actually fairly easy to pick your way through without too much effort. The route is clear beyond the rhodo all the way to the summit. If you continue on the ridgeline, there's a road/atv path that follows the ridge. There's some really pretty spots on the ridge. Be aware, however, I passed what looked to be two hunting cabins along with an outhouse (which happened to have the biggest, and luckily dead, spider I have ever seen in the southeast). It was as big as a small tarantula I saw in Kansas. The cabins looked like they haven't been used in awhile..perhaps at least a year or two. The road/ATV path continues to the saddle in between Calahan and Hyde Mtns.
